A full stash can turn a good farming session into a chore. When you are deep into Pits and boss rotations, the real question is not whether an item has a Greater Affix, but whether that affix actually helps. Players looking through D4 items often spot the same pattern: one useful Greater Affix can make a piece exciting, while three weak ones still leave it sitting unused. Check the stat before you get attached to the star beside it. Critical Strike Chance, Attack Speed, weapon damage, Maximum Life, and your class's main stat are usually worth a proper look. A Greater Affix on Life on Kill or resource gained on kill usually is not.

Read the Greater Affix, not the label

It is easy to fill several stash tabs with "maybe later" gear. That is how good drops get buried. For most builds, a clean item with the right affixes beats a cluttered piece with a flashy but irrelevant roll. Think about where the item would go before saving it. Does it replace something you wear now? Does it fit an alt you actually play? Would another player want it? If none of those answers is yes, take the materials and move on.

Keep Greater Affixes that support damage, survivability, or a main stat.
Set aside pieces with two strong affixes, even if the third one needs work.
Salvage niche rolls that have no clear use in your current plans.

Use item power as a quick first pass

Once endgame drops are common, 925 Item Power should be your normal starting point for weapons and armour. Lower-power gear can occasionally be useful during the climb, but it rarely earns a long-term slot when tougher content is on the menu. Legendary aspects deserve a separate check. Before judging the item itself, compare its aspect roll with the version stored in your Codex of Power. If the new roll is better, salvage the piece right away. You get the Codex improvement and clear space in one go. It is a small habit, but it saves a surprising amount of sorting time.

Judge Uniques by their effect roll

Uniques are not automatic keeps. Their fixed powers can be brilliant, but the range on that power matters a lot. A low roll on a sought-after Unique may lose out to a well-tempered Legendary with the stats your build needs. Keep high rolls, plus anything that opens a build you want to test. The rest can become Forgotten Souls, which you will burn through when Enchanting and Masterworking get expensive. That makes a disappointing Unique less painful; it still helps fund the next improvement.

Turn duplicates into future options

Mythic Uniques deserve more care, yet duplicate copies should not sit untouched forever. Keep the ones that suit your class or a character you genuinely plan to level. For the rest, salvaging creates Resplendent Sparks. Those sparks give you control later, since four can be used at the Alchemist for a chosen Mythic. If you decide to D4 items buy, knowing which drops are worth keeping still protects your stash from turning into a museum of unused gear. Clear decisions leave more room for upgrades that matter.
